Blood pressure and resilience to Alzheimer dementia Lead Investigator: Mo-Kyung Sin Institution : Seattle University E-Mail : sinm@seattleu.edu Proposal ID : 1621 Proposal Description: Emerging evidence has reported lower vascular risk as a contributor to resilience capacity by slowing or halting the progression of AD pathology and delaying cognitive impairment. We have limited studies examined the influence of hypertension and its treatment on resilience capacity in late-life. Understanding the influence of hypertension and antihypertensive treatment on brain pathologies and characteristics of those with resilient and not resilient will be a necessary step for optimal management of cognitive status and prevention of cognitive impairment in older adults. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to examine the relationships among hypertension, antihypertension medication treatment, and resilience capacity among older adults age > 65.
